What is Rooted?

Rooted is centered in what the authors refer to as the “rhythms of Rooted”- practices taken from the life of Jesus and the early church that help us to orient our whole lives around God. These rhythms are Daily Devotion, prayer, repentance, serving the community, sacrificial generosity, sharing your story, and worship. You’ll notice that our own church’s 5 rhythms are actually just a consolidation of these same 7 rhythms!

In the Rooted experience you’ll not only learn about these rhythms, you’ll practice them together hand in hand with others and learn how to integrate them into your life in both an individual and communal context.

“If you are looking for a 10 week study where you can learn some new ideas and entertain them at an arm's length, Rooted isn’t for you. But if you want to experience life as Jesus designed you to live it and if you are willing to change your life in order to get there, sign up for Rooted. Rooted is not the be all end of discipleship, it’s simply a good start.”

FAQs

What should I expect?

Throughout Rooted, you will have five daily devotional and journaling experiences each week to help you practice the 7 Rooted Rhythms modeled by the early church in Acts 2.  These rhythms include daily devotion, prayer, repentance, sacrificial generosity, community service, sharing your story, and worship. Committed and consistent practice of these rhythms will not only impact you but the whole church.

What are the expectations for participation in the group?

For the best Rooted experience, we recommend not missing more than 3 weeks. The 10 weeks are a cumulative experience, and so we ask that every participant commit to honor each other by being at every meeting. If your schedule requires you to miss more than three, please consider joining us when the next Rooted session starts.

How do I sign up and how much does it cost?

You can sign up by clicking here. The $40 registration fee covers the whole 10-week experience and includes the Rooted curriculum book, multiple group experiences, and a celebration dinner where you will share a meal together! We do not want finances to deter you from your Rooted participation. Please reach out to Joy for a scholarship code for financial assistance.

When will I get my book?

You will receive your Rooted workbook on the first week that you meet. They will be provide from your Rooted Facilitator. If you miss the first week, your facilitator (Leader) will connect with you to ensure you can start on time with the rest of your group.

Where will my group meet?

Rooted groups meet weekly in person. All Rooted groups will meet at Grace Church unless collectively deciding differently after you begin. Days and times vary. Please see above for schedule details.

Can I lead a group?

Rooted Facilitators have an amazing opportunity to partner with God and see His hand of transformation miraculously work. Rooted facilitators must have completed Rooted and agree to our leadership commitment.

If you are interested in leading a Rooted group, please email Joy.

Do I need to go through Rooted before I join a Small Group?

Great question! Instead of thinking as Rooted as a curriculum to do before you join a Small Group, it can be helpful to think of it as your first step to a Small Group. To help Grace Small Groups have a shared culture, all new Grace Small Groups begin by going through Rooted together. Since Rooted is just as much about the relationships and experiences as the content, every Time you do Rooted with a different group it will be a different experience! If you’ve already gone through Rooted and would like to join an existing Small Group, you can join a friends group or ask Pastor Jake to help get you connected.
