What is baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of the inward work the Holy Spirit is doing in a persons life. It is an act of obedience for those who have placed their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Here at Grace we baptize by full immersion in water. It signifies being buried with Christ and then raised again to a new life in Jesus.
Romans 6:1-4, Matthew 3:13-17
Anyone who has repented of their sins and believed in Jesus should be baptized. You must be a believer to be baptized.
Acts 2:37-38, 41
As soon as you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, your next step should be baptism.
Acts 8:12, 26-40; Acts 16:25-40
Jesus commanded us to be baptized.
"And Jesus came and said to them , "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
-Matthew 28:18-19,
Jesus left us with a command to go and make disciples and to baptize them in His name. At Grace we want to follow this command from Jesus to go and make disciples and to give those disciples the opportunity to be baptized.
Baptism is significant in that it represents the cleansing from sin and. forgiveness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism publicly acknowledges one's confession of faith and belief in the gospel message.
Titus 3:5, Romans 6:3-5
